Darren ,
To my knowledge , hardly anyone , if anyone at all , in the USA , has any hands - on experience with Opticron - badged products , as in the USA , the products bearing their logo in the UK probably have different names , if they exist at all over there .
Neither am I aware of many , if any , UK residents owning the Williams Optics 7 x 50 Marine -- so I would be surprised if you receive many responses from people who have literally tried both of the models you are considering .
Unfortunately , I can't get the individual product pages of the Sherwoods' web site to download right now , so cannot even view the specs.
If I were you , presuming you are happy to pay the price , I would simply take a chance on one or the other , whichever is easiest to obtain and return , if necessary .
Whichever one you decide upon , I will be surprised if you are not very pleased with it .
I have a 7 x 50 Japanese - made Marine binocular , with Individual Focus , in the form of a Helmsman , which came from Bill Cook's Captain's Nautical in the USA .
It is a real pleasure to use -- surprisingly good for the price ( £130 in UK money ) .
In fact , in spite of it's 7.2 degree TFOV , for star gazing , I prefer it to the legendary Zeiss 7 x 42 BGAT , with it's 8.6 degree TFOV . !
Good luck Kenny
