Thanks for that observing report , Stan .
It's reassuring to know the old friends are still there - not that I had any serious doubt that they may not be !
Even though it's sometimes an easy naked eye object in Autumn from here , I too have yet to see a really impressive view of M31 , through any binoculars or scope .
It seems to me that to see it in all it's splendour , large aperture , large exit - pupil and high magnification are all required -- yet maintaining a true field of view of at least 3 degrees .
We have a bit of a conundrum there , don't we ? :-)
I bet you're wishing now that Ed had sent you the Prostar instead of the one he did send ? :-)
