Hi Davey,
I have the 12x60s from Garrett, and find them to be a very nice pair (in fact they are my most used)
They perform very well, give very nice wide views(5.3*, and smaller than the advertised 5.7*) , good eye relief, no problems with getting off collimation so far.
If you have decided on a 12x60, then these are a very good choice. If you are thinking alnng lines of a range of mag/aperture then note that these will require a mount of some sort. Weight wise, they can ofcourse be handheld, but the mag (for me) is too high too hold stars steady. 8x and 42 or 50 aperture is perhaps more comfortable for hand held use.
If you have a good monopod/tripod, and are looking for 12x and 60 aperture, I wholeheartedly recommend them.
Good luck
Clear skies,
Kumar
