I know. I just feel really bad about this. If I'd been paying more attention to this forum (as I had in the past), I might have seen a post about the gear lockup and been able to make a recommendation - before Charlie's worm wheel was damaged. I went thru a similar situation when rebuilding my CGE, and found that as little as a 1/32" misalignment could cause the worm to lock in one direction if the worm and wheel were gapped for minimal backlash. You can run it misaligned, but the set has to be gapped loose - which adds backlash and plays merry hob with guiding and gotos.
