I mentioned above that I use a harness. Here's a link to one as an example. REI and most sporting goods stores have them.

The thing with these is there is no load on the neck at all and the bins don't swing as you walk or lean over. I always wear bins while observing (and hunting) and this is by far the most comfortable and effective alternative.
