We made the right decision bringing dobs. But the TEC forest was fun to see. On Thursday night there were 39 telescopes, evenly distributed between dobs, refractors and SCTs. Friday, 43 telescopes, with 18 dobs. That is a lot of volunteers doing national park outreach! Bryce is a fabulous national park. Well worth a detour. And at least this year and last year, it was the same weekend as Grand Canyon Star Parties on North and South rims, so astro-tourists could see both parks and park dark skies in the same vacation. I know I told quite a few people about the GCSP after the Thursday event, as they were heading to the Grand Canyon (or had been there already).
