Coronado's PST uses a pentaprism also. It acts as a diagonal and as a focusing device. The focusing knob moves the prism along a 45 deg angle to the incoming light. This changes the path length through the prism which allows focusing. The incoming and outgoing light never change position and this is why the eye piece doesn't move and the PST is a "sealed" unit. The only drawback is a limited range of focusing.
