Hints for good DS (+ background) websites ?
      07/12/08 05:55 PM

Hi,
some time ago I found some excellent DeepSky web sites in the US, e.g. like the excellent pages by Jim Shields + Steve Gottlieb
http://www.astronomy-mall.com/Adventures.In.Deep.Space/index.html
or the really great ones (with excellent background) by Richard Powell
http://www.atlasoftheuniverse.com/index.html

I really found those sites very inspiring to me (and checked out a lot of those objects with my 20" dob thereafter), so my question is:
Can you recommend similar pages ?
I would appreciate any further hint you could provide...
Good background infos (astrophysics) would be a plus, too, but not a must, of course.

I am not so much looking for long ascii lists of faint objects, but rather for collections of good DS articles say, with some background (the more the better). E.g. good observing reports with inspiring topics and such ...

Thanks + regards,
Peter
