I don't think the guide rate that you select with the buttons on the hand paddle is displayed anywhere, but it might be in the manual. There were 5 or 6 different values, IIRC, and if you keep hitting the buttons you'll cycle back through the different values. If you watch a star with a reticle (either in a camera window or one of those actual reticles in an eyepiece that we used to use in the olden days) as you try the different speeds, you'll see when you go from the slowest back to the fastest.
I don't know about TheSky6, but in other programs I've tried changing the speed in software, it's had no effect at all on the mount. But maybe I've been doing it wrong!
