Well maybe one day you heard a metallic sound when rotating your IM OTA and you suspected something was wrong... in some place.... and maybe you pointed your scope to a star to verify collimation and initially it was OK but when you pointed it to another star in a very different angle you heard that metallic sound again and then when you re-verified the collimation it was wrong.... you knows about this?
Well that was my experience with my IM715 some years ago and i was 100% sure the issue was the primary mirror so i opened the OTA... but found no issues at the primary ...then i verified at the meniscus side (after removed the cosmetic black ring) and i found one of the three screws had not the proper pressure, fixed that screw and bingo! ... no more rare... strange... primary mirror sounds... the collimation issue? bye bye...
Of course this is just one possibility
