The 16 mm Nagler T5 has only ~10 mm of eye relief, yet it has an 82 degree AFOV. A 16 mm Abbe would have 12.8 mm eye relief and an AFOV of only 40 degrees. Only the latter approaches looking through a straw, but in reality is nowhere near that bad.
