I am sure they are available in the US. We got ours from a local electronic and imaging specialist down here in Australia. Just E-mail the Imaging source company and request a list of their dealers in the US. You can also buy direct from them. Not sure if they are better than Rocks USB2 as I bought one on the recommendation of a friend. Very easy to use and the software and capture is the same as they use in their excellent astronomy web. cams so they have been designed for astronomers in mind. Have a look at Gavin Bray's images as they are unprocessed so this will give you an idea.
