These converters are made by the same people who make the USB and firewire cameras (http://www.astronomycameras.com/en/products/) that are so popular for planetary imaging.
Also, Shevill Mathers, who frequents the videoastro Yahoo group and has many years of astro-video experience, gave these converters his tick of approval.
Finally, I've compared the image from the converter and displayed on my PC's LCD screen with the same image shown on my Speco CRT monitor. My feeling is the Speco is perhaps just slightly better than the converter. My 20 year old son's opinion is the converter is slightly better. So, I would say the image is comparable to the Speco. I rarely use the Speco these days as I enjoy saving snaps on my PC so I can share them with others and occasionally display them in the house on the TV screen.
I haven't used Rock's converter so I'm afraid I can't make a comparison. I did try an in-PC converter card and an external Canopus converter but didn't like either of them. I certainly can recommend TheImagingSource converter but I suspect others can equally recommend other converters that they use.
