The Hyperions lack the very expensive lanthanum glass element that is present within each of the LVW's, so from a technical standpoint alone it is far more likely that it is the Hyperion clone which is going to be optically inferior. Also, despite boasts of multi-coating greatness for the Hyperion, the current general level of technology used in applying multi-coating in China pales by comparison to that of Japan, so this is likely another negative for the Hyperions. I would surmise that the LVW's elements are electron beam deposition coated, whereas the Hyperions are probably only spray (sputter) coated. Generations separate the two technologies. Surface polish technology is also superior in Japan. You get what you pay for.
