Does anyone know the difference in the focusing image between the mask with the wider vs the narrower cutouts?
My understanding thus far is that you get 3rd order spikes with the wider slots and if you use the narrowest, you get 1st and second in addition. Are the spikes narrower and is the central image smaller with the narrower slots?
I cut one out of Kydex yesterday for my 80mm with a field flattener. It took a couple of hours with razors and a chisel. It turned out OK and works very well, but I did use the wider slots so I'm wondering if there are benefits to the narrower slots.
For the wider slots, I used Astrojargon's site with a value of 50. I've printed patterns for all my scopes. I just wonder if the narrower slots are worth the extra trouble to cut.
Thanks for any help with this.
Also thanks for all the help, messages, and links that have been provided. I've found them enormously helpful. I've read all 23 pages of posts and I'll go through them again. I hadn't made the mask when I read them the first time so maybe I missed something.
