Thanks guys,

Carlos, that software is amazing, I will have to learn how to do that. thanks for the info.

Jimbo, yeah the milky way passes right over my head from where we are. Scorpius and Sagitarius are the most densly packed regions of the Milky Way from Earth's perspective, so i'm hoping to do alot more widefield on them this year.

With stopping my lense down 1 or 2 stops, how much would I need to increase my expsoure time?

I can get to a site with completely dark skies. No light on any horizons. So sky glow isn't that much of a worry for me.
But I know that stopping the lense down 1 stop, halves the aperture, so would that mean twice the exposure time?

And Jimbo, it was a single one hour shot. Both manually and autoguided. What I mean by that is, my autoguiding software sometimes has problems guiding my lx-50 mount, and can begin to drift. I beleive this is because of Periodic Error Correction (or lack of it, lol). So I sit infront of my laptop watching the guide star, every few minutes periodic error gets the better of it, and i'm there with the hand controller to fix it. Crude, but i'm stepping up to an SBIG and Losmandy G-11 very very soonish. Hopefully in the next month.

Heres a higher res shot (250kb) with no procssing yet.

I'll get onto Pixinsight and see what I can do to it.

Cheers
