I'll tell you what, try this.
Get yourself a 10x50, a 10x70, and a 15x70 masked to 50mm to give you a 15x50. Now take those three binoculars and observe any one of my detailed LM charts, M44, M45 or Cr399. Now record a set of observations with all three instrunments under dark skies and another set of observations under bright skies. Report back with what you find. See how it compares to the following.
Doesn't matter what the skies are, the 15x50 binocular is going to see deeper than either of the other two. In bright skies the 10x50 will nearly equal the 10x70. In dark skies, the 10x70 will pull away from the 10x50, but still won't reach the 15x50.
