If by "blow away" you mean seeing a greater limiting magnitude, I don't believe you can mean what you are saying. For a given NELM and speaking only of point sources, I just can't image how, despite a 10mm reduction in aperture, 11x will see deeper than 15x. This counters everything I have observed. I assume that your comparisons were done on the same night and that both bins are of approx. the same quality.
