Well, that could be a very wrong assumption. Just look at the number of posts in this forum that deal with the number of stars that can be seen in open clusters. Frankly, I'm not going to be the one to tell all these people that's not what binoculars are for. In large part because I participate and very much enjoy this type of viewing and I know many others do also.

But that still leaves you with the claim that yor 11x80s are better than a 15x70. That might be true in your dark Arizona (correct me if i'm wrong, but i know it's SW somewhere) skies, but that could be so wrong for many other people that have many other conditions and viewing choices. So its best not to give blanket statements. Instead, an explanation of what implication each attribute has and how it will affect their viewing is a much better way of giving people the information they need to make the right choices. Or don't you agree?
