The binocular in that Kunming ad that has the caption 20x80 lightweight is what Oberwerk sold as the 20x80 standard. That is a different animal altogether. that is a very long focal length binocular, much longer than normal focal length. Even though a doublet, it had fine color correction and excellent sharpness of field. I would not consider it a light weight. It has the same prism housing as the Oberwerk 15x70 and it has extension tubes added onto the front end. Although its color and resolution performance were excellent, it never struck me as a very attractive binocular. it kind of looks like something that came off the workroom bench.
How long the binocular turns out to be is just a matter of the focal length. And that can vary all over the place.
