Brian, Stephen, Walter, Mark--thank you very much. I'm always happy to have a chance to contribute to the record of solar activity posted on this forum. I could hardly believe it that an active region was visible on the Daystar *and* on a rare clear day. It's been cloudy for a solid month here.
I got my chores done in time to catch the Sun again just before it disappeared behind the mountains to my west. The active region had changed subtly, adding a third dim spot of activity in the trailing portion. Meanwhile, the dark leading spots seemed to have moved slightly closer together. Even though the Sun's altitude was lower for this observation, the seeing was a little better. Go figure.
