Regarding Ed's last question , there is no comparison for me all in all . I use binoculars almost every single day hand -held in daytime.
On the rare occasions when it is clear and I'm in the mood for skywatching at night , I almost always use either 10 x 50s or 15 x 70s MOUNTED.
After using binoculars mounted I get very frustrated with the relatively unsteady view when hand-holding for astronomy , but I still prefer to lie down on a comfortable lounger and look through binoculars , even if that means a few shakes. Hence my preference for 7 x 42s and a desire to get some Image Stabilised binos.
Regards, Kenny
