This is a wonderful replica of a Gregorian telescope made in the original style. The aperture is about 2.5 inches. The telescope is about 22 inches long and stands about 20 inches high. The optics are fairly clean with just a few very minor blemishes. The focusing mechanism is an external screw that moves the secondary. It works properly.

The scope functions as intended but the eyepiece has a very narrow field of view of about 20 degrees. It delivers a sharp image with a magnification of maybe 30x or so. I am pretty sure they used optical glass instead of speculum for the optical surfaces. Whatever they used is very highly reflective like aluminized glass. Apparently this was made by Deutches Museum in 1978 (at least that is the date engraved on it). This would appear to be number 301 out of a run of 1500, judging by the numbers on the back-plate.

When I got it the legs were missing so I made some in the proper style as best I could. Has a fair amount of patina as shown in the pictures but still looks great on a desk. Even a fussy spouse would probably not object to this beauty in the living room.
