The Takahashi CN-212 hardly needs an introduction but here goes... This classic telescope converts from an f/12.2 Cassegrain which is perfect for planets and other small scale objects to an f/3.9 Newtonian for deepspace objects. Converting is as easy as unscrewing the secondary and replacing it with a different one. Collimation, once achieved, stays even after switching back and forth. This particular unit is serial# 1002 and comes complete with the original manual and certificate of Inspection signed by two Takahashis. I am the second owner and I have always kept the scope covered and well protected. It has a few small scrapes and scratches here and there and the label is slightly faded. It seems that they didn't have the flocking on the inside figured out too well by the time this came out of the factory because some of it had flaked off of the inside by the time I got it. It doesn't have any effect on the performance however. Due to the ease of disassembly I think it would be fairly trivial to spray new flocking if desired.

Here are some specs:
212mm - 8.35" Cassegrain/Corrected Newtonian OTA
Limiting Visual Magnitude 13.4
Focal Ratio f/12.2 (Cass), f/3.9 (Newt)
Focal Length 104.3" (2650mm) - Cass, 32.3" (820mm) - Newt.
Optical Tube Dimensions 33.7" (855mm) long
Total Weight 18.7 lbs. (8.5kg)

The scope comes complete with all of the often difficult to find accessories:

- Both secondaries
- Newtonian collimation scope and parts
- Cassegrain collimation tube and related parts
- f/9.9 focal reducer for the Cassegrain end
- Field flattener/corrector for the Newtonian end
- Long and short visual backs for Newtonian end (Takahashi calls them 50.8 adapters)
- The Cassegrain visual back
- The finder scope which is also used as a handle for picking up the scope
- The LED illuminator for the finder scope

It breaks my heart to part with this amazing piece of history but I feel that it deserves to get more use than I can dedicate to it right now. I'm hoping someone will cherish this scope as I have. If you really want an amazing complete system I am considering selling my NJP mount also. It is the perfect match for this scope.

I'll pay half of the shipping and insurance or I can meet within 50 miles or so of Denver, CO.
