I am the historian for the Los Angeles Astronomical Society (1926-present). I'm looking to add to its archive any and all items and artifacts that you may have that relate to it and/or any of its past members. For example, membership rosters, newsletters, membership cards, images of members and club activities, etc. Tom Cave (of Cave Optical), Tom Johnson (of Celestron), Vic Maris (of Stellarvue), Dick Nelson (of Optical Craftsmen) were members.

I attended my first LAAS star party in 1958, joined in 1961, and became historian in 1968. I'm putting together a digital archive for its 100th anniversary in 2026. We are the 2nd oldest club of its type in the USA, after the Springfield Telescope Makers.

Please let me know if you have anything to contribute. Scanned or photographed copies work very well for my purposes. We can discuss details after you contact me. Here's hoping that this attempt to find LAAS memorabilia is successful. Thanks and clear skies,

Lew Chilton
