This dream scope was to be my ultimate portable travel telescope and I bought the best that would fit my space and weight limitations to carry in in a motorhome. I have a 5-inch refractor and wanted a 7- or 8-incher, but that would be too heavy even if I could afford one. This Mak is my equivalent of an 8-inch refractor and it's as close as you can get to one. It's f/6 to keep the size and weight within reason while still giving adequate magnification; I routinely used 3.7 and 2.5mm eyepieces on double stars.

The scope is by APM Telescopes in Germany and you can view full specs by Googling APM MN f/6 Maksutov Quarz. You can see the product description and specs so there’s no need for me to list them here. The quartz mirror is great!

I've added:
* Sturdy custom-built padded carry case with handles and wheels ($500+), I would ship it inside this and put it inside a larger cardboard box. You can carry it or roll it across grass. Offers complete protection to a precision instrument.
* Dovetail plate

I put on a red-dot finder (which is all you need) but will remove it and include the 50mm finder it came with.

The scope is like-new and shows very minor wear. I've used it a dozen times and haven't yet needed to clean the corrector.

Why am I selling such a super system? I bought it to travel in our motorhome, and although I correctly calculated that it is the largest scope that would fit in our storage bins, getting it out and setting it up proved too difficult. If I was younger it would be OK, but it's too heavy and awkward for my old bones. I'm now officially handicapped -- hadn't planned on that when I bought it! So I'll carry my trusty 5-inch refractor instead. Don't buy this Mak if you're over 70 with bad knees and a bad back - unless you can leave it assembled and roll it out on wheels, or leave it out covered.

The Mak cost me $8850 plus shipping from Germany. I'm asking HALF that — $4425 -- plus actual shipping costs, and will go no lower. I can email more photos.

I waited 10 months for this to be custom built in Germany with Russian optics, but you can have it now. Buyer pays PayPal and actual shipping expenses.
