My two companions, Michael van Doorn & Arie Nagel are moving onward to new things. This means that the 12" Newton hosted at AstroCamp (Spain) will be my sole responsibility.
I am looking for someone to partner up with. What I offer:

Direct access to one of the clearest skies in Europe with the following equipment:
  • 12" Orion CT12L (with a larger secondary 1/13 lamda wavefront)
  • ASI 1600MM-C Pro
  • 2.5" Wynne Coma corrector on a 2.5" Moonlight focuser
  • Starlight Lodestar X2 off-axis guider
  • Full filter set with: Ha 3nm, Ha 8nm, OIII 3nm, SII 3nm, Clear, LRGB, Bessel-I, Dark from Chroma (36mm)
The observatory is hosted at Astrocamp in southern Spain at 1500mm altitude, an amazing site with excellent on-site support.

About you:

A responsible individual that I can trust with the remote operation of equipment, and is able to financially contribute to upkeep and maintenance.
Note that this is non-trivial equipment with non-trivial costs involved.
This will be a full collaboration, in the sense that we share both the joy and burden 1:1.

You will get in return: full access to the equipment (and the skies), including an equal say in things like target selection, maintenance, and all things astro.
Previously it was structured that the raw data was available to everyone but the ownership and copyright of the final image would fall to the person processing the data (all rights reserved). But I am also open to suggestions on that scheme.

About me:

I'm a 30 year old software consultant with an avid interest in astronomy (https://www.astrobin...ers/joelkuiper/) and quite accustomed to distributed work (PhD dropout in AI working on statistical analysis of clinical trials).
Currently I am located in the Netherlands (GMT+2).
Unfortunately I cannot directly disclose the cost, since I am contractually prohibited to do so, but send a direct message or email (me@joelkuiper.eu) if you are interested.
There will be no buy-in (ownership of the current equipment will reside with me), but the monthly upkeep and any maintenance costs will be shared (currently its running well, but if a cable snatches, someone has to pay for that).

Alternatively, if someone has a remote operated observatory on the southern hemisphere I am open to a collaboration there (in the sense the we would share Southern Hemisphere for Nothern Hemisphere and share costs)

  • Condition Awesome
  • Location Western Europe
