For your consideration is a Meade 12.5” f/6 Research Grade (RG) Telescope.

Most of the items of this Telescope is in excellent condition, but there are also some negatives that was considered when arriving at the sale price of $995 (which assumes a pickup at my location).

You can assume that everything is in very good to excellent condition, with these following exceptions:

Optics/Mirrors – Something struck the Primary Mirror prior to my ownership, and created an impression that is approximately ¾” in length, and 2/16” to 3/16” in width, and starts 3-3/4” from the edge of the Mirror. You can see this in the photos of the Mirror, and the impression / chip is in the 9:00 PM position in the last Mirror photos. The Secondary Mirror has aesthetically annoying chips its mirrored edge. While the previous owner indicated that these issues have no effect on it’s viewing capability, you should know this major issue up-front. IMPORTANT NOTE: I have a Discovery 12.5” f/6 Mirror, along with it’s matched Secondary, that I can sell to the individual who purchases the Telescope, for an additional (but discounted) price of $195.

The OTA White Tube – In general the Tube is in excellent structural condition, but there are approximately 3-4 locations on the White Tube where the Paint has either some blistering or chipping. These paint issues should be repairable with some forethought & skill.

Sitting on top of the Rotating Rings is a vintage Meade 80mm x 1,200mm (Model 300) Refractor - - PLEASE NOTE: This Refractor is not included in the $995 Price, but can be purchased separately.

I have not totally ruled out Shipping the Telescope, although shipping, packaging, & insurance costs would be at the purchaser’s expense and would probably cost over $400 since it would be shipped in numerous boxes. Naturally, my first (and possibly only) option / preference is pickup at my location (Rochester, MI 48306). I am not certain if I am able to fit the entire disassembled Telescope into my vehicle for a meetup / handoff - - the OTA may make it prohibitive (although I will investigate this further, but note there would be additional cost associated with this type of arrangement).

While the sum of the individual parts of this Telescope is worth more than the asking price of $995, the basis for the $995 amount takes into consideration that it will be sold and picked up by a single individual, which relieves me of a lot of extra work selling the parts individually, but more importantly places the entire Telescope in the hands of an individual who can fully enjoy a piece of history as well as enjoy a beautiful & powerful Telescope / Instrument. However, If it does not sell at this price, I will Part it Out in the future.

Lastly, please let me know if you wish to receive additional images.

Thanks for your interest.
