As some of you know, especially us collector nuts, Bausch And Lomb bought the Criterion name and carried-on many of the other company's products, particularly their eyepieces and schmidt-cats.

This 1985 CP4 barlow is indistinguishable from an original CP4 when we consider the optics, the mechanics, and physical appearance. Both are the same height, same width, and same weight. Both are black milled aluminum. Both feature a Japanese-made doublet 2x fully coated lens assembly with the same exit pupil; seated in the same cell assembly. And both used compression slits to house the ocular securely within.

The only difference is the name and gold-colored etched characters.

I am very fond of this barlow as it is lightweight, but far from cheaply made. It is outstanding to use in any f/10 to f/15 cassegrain system and is very cooperative with f/6 or slower reflectors. Plus you won't be marring your vintage, shiny chrome plated brass eyepiece barrels with this puppy.

Cosmetics are great on the lower barrel with some set screw marks, but none bad, very excellent on the upper barrel. Slits are perfect and the characters are perfect. Optics are dust issue free and there are no chips, fogging, or fungus. A few hairline marks on the bottom-facing coating, but in all accounts, I still say excellent for the age.
The now hard to find box is very excellent with no tape, crush zones or fade.

Price includes shipping if by check and in the US. Paypal and/or other nations will be more.
