This here is a the quick release 1/4"-20 adapter plate that fits on all Celestron model 93596 tripod/pan heads.

These are VERY hard to find loose and were never offered as separate purchases from Celestron.

Cosmetics on this are great, but not excellent. It is missing the upper vinyl contact pad, but an easy replacement. Also, the original bolt-stop washer is missing. It will hold your scope perfectly, but when not threaded into the scope, it will not stay hanging on the platform.
This is the top piece to the tripod pan head where you mate the telescope to the tripod itself. You simply check the underside of your small refractor or schmidt/maksutov cassegrain for a female 1/4-20 bore and place it on this adapter plate. Twist the underside thumb screw till it is firm and you are now ready to mount it to your Celestron tripod pan head.

This plate was sometimes added as inclusive accessories to C90s from about 1991-1998. They immediately fit to ALL years of the Celestron large photo/video tripod (mpn 93596) and their smaller mini tripod (mpn 93597). Both of these tripods had pan heads that used quick release mounts via a tangent, spring-loaded clamp. This method of mounting is also practiced by Vivitar, Velbon, Orion Paragon, and Bogen Manfrotto.

The exact contact where this fits into the pan head is a square 1.64-inches x 1.63-inches. This is a common format size. So if you are not using this on a Celestron-brand tripod, check to make sure these dimensions will work.

Very well built in Taiwan of dense polyvinyl chloride plastic and a huge, underside brass thumb bolt. The top of the plate is dome-shaped and measures 2.95-inches L x 2.55-inches W.

Weight is 2.5 ounces.

Price doesn't include shipping. Will ship to anyone anywhere.
