This is a 1987 (red tube years) Coulter Optical Odyssey 8-inch f/4.5 mirror set. They came from the same tube.

I have been very pleased with this mirror's performance and has produced excellent deep sky views for my needs here in far East Spokane, as well as in the Palouse some 30 miles south. Was going to do some sidewalk astronomy with it all throughout the fall, but the whole covid thing has ended that idea.
The tube that held these mirrors was starting to break down pretty badly where the cell was mounted and stopped holding collimation due to the mirror cell shifting when the tube was aimed below 45 degrees. So I'm parting the old dude out.

I usually don't go after many Odysseys because I fear their optical integrity. They are not bad scopes, but they are not perfect because they were made quickly and kept at a price no other company could possibly compete with at the time.
And yes, when you run into a bad Odyssey mirror, it is BAD. Not the case here. These mirrors won't be pushing a Meade RG 8 or Cave 8 f/7 against any walls, BUT you will have tons of fun on hundreds of deep sky objects like M27, M13, NGC7006, but I couldn't quite find 3C273 even in the dark skies 40 miles south.

Primary design: parabolic pyrex
Secondary design: elliptical flat pyrex
Primary thickness: 0.82-inches
Primary weight: 3 pounds 1 ounces
Secondary minor axis: 2.13-inches
Secondary major axis: 2.93-inches
Secondary thickness: 0.67-inches
Secondary weight: 6.4 ounces

The primary has no scratches to the figure and no chips to worry about. No clamshells. The coating is original and definitely in excellent condition, particularly for its age. It is not heavily pitted or letting a lot of light through by any means.
The secondary is in very excellent condition on the glass form and its coating, which is original, is in excellent condition. It has a small contact pit mark that you can see in the last photo at the 9:25 o'clock position. It is WAY too tiny to affect performance, but it is there. Everything else is excellent.
Do note that the marks on the mirrors and the flock on the secondary IS ORIGINAL from Coulter.

Price doesn't include shipping. Will ship to anyone anywhere.
