This beautiful 3" refractor was made by famous Paris manufacturer E. Vion in the late 19th Century. It would have been proudly displayed by a banking baron, leading barrister, or possibly a wealthy amateur astronomer investigating the heavens at night. The main 42" brass tube extends to 56" using the 50x terrestrial upright view eyepiece. Complete with a brass cover, the 3" primary lens is pristine giving beautiful views of the moon, planets and countryside. Two additional astronomical eyepieces are included, one 70x and 155x both with screw on solar filters for observing the sun. The height of the telescope can be adjusted on the beautifully preserved walnut tripod base. The telescope comes with a fitted hinged walnut carrying case.

As an added bonus, included with this 3" astronomical heirloom is a copy of the rare 1886 book "Hours with a 3" Telescope" that features a fold out map of the Moon, instructions on observing the sun, moon and planets, colorful double stars, and viewing some of the mysterious Messier objects that nobody really knows what they are. Four years ago, I spotted a telescope similar to this in a Paris auction house for $10,000 US. Shipping /PP fees separate....
