This 1991 Celestron (Vixen of Japan) .965-inch 30mm Kellner, with fully coated optics, will come with the rarely-seen matching top and bottom caps.

This is the second generation of the Vixen 30mm Kellner; this one being aluminum and brass, but the characters are painted, not etched. They are somewhat elusive as few C90s actually came with them and for the most part they were an individual purchase item only. It should also be noted, throughout the 1987-1993 time frame when these were made, Celestron didn't always have them advertised; interesting.

At 33-degrees field of view is narrow, but still very apt at showing the Moon, Jupiter, M42, M35, M41, and M11; objects that have good surface brightness, but are also compact. Like any Kellner, once they are placed in an optical system longer than f/8, they become quite sharp. At f/11 to f/13 they are sharp to the edge IF the telescope they are serving has excellent optics and is properly collimated. Eye relief is comfortable for eyeglass wearers and you'll be able to get the entire view in. It is also an easy eyepiece to position the eye with; so no issues for newcomers to use.

Like the C90s they continually served for decades, all of the Vixen-made Kellner line gives very pleasing views in these scopes as well as in the C5 and Meade 2040. It would be an upgrade in many Tasco, Jason Empire, Sans And Streiffe, Unitron, Shrine, and Swift (to name a few) refractors because most of those scopes only came with a 20mm Kellner.

Remember, the longer the focal length, the better the views with this eyepiece. It is NOT recommended for use in rich field reflectors.

Cosmetics are mint top cap, very excellent bottom cap, chrome and body very excellent, characters are mint, optics and coatings are near mint, but there is some internal dust.

Price doesn't include shipping. I ship to all.
