This is the model that was shown in old Cave catalogs being hand-held by a pretty brunette. I don't think it was ever sold with rings or a mount.

First the good. The Fiberglas tube is in great condition considering its age, with only a few small cracks visible in the paint or clear coat. The information plate is intact and in good condition. The helical focuser is solidly mounted. The spider and secondary are complete and in good condition. The tube end rings show casting bubbles and appear to have been hand-cast. (I include this in the "good" because it seems to be a sign of age and originality.) The mirror is engraved "cave optical co" in cursive, dated 1967, and the serial number is not in the registry. The cell is in good condition and solidly mounted to the tube. Includes what I think is the original eyepiece, which is marked "20x wide" and is also in nice condition. I've seen eyepieces like this described as Cave Orthostars, but that name is not marked on it. Check out what these EPs have sold for here and on Astromart.

Now the bad. The primary has a large chip in the back that seems like it must have been there when the mirror was made. The coating shows a few large sleeks and numerous pinholes. They say never to shine a light through the back of your mirror, but I did, and here's the photo.

I prefer to sell this in person in the greater Tucson area. I also travel to Phoenix regularly.
