I am offering for sale two University Optics "flat top" Konig 1.25" eyepieces, focal lengths 16mm and 8mm. I am the original owner but have used them very little or not at all since 1977--1982 ... so for the past 35+ years they've been in separate compartments of a closed plastic organizer box, and with the flexible vinyl covers (pictured) over the top of each eyepiece. The buyer will probably want to clean the external lens surfaces and perhaps find better end caps (as dirt is visible inside these vinyl caps), but the multi-layer anti-reflection coatings and glass appear to be in good condition. While neither was heavily used, the 16mm had relatively more use than the 8mm. Each eyepiece is being sold as-is.

Please refer to the photos to assess their overall condition (the first 4 photos show the 16mm; the last 2 photos show the 8mm).

FYI, here are the only (very minor) cosmetic imperfections that I see when carefully examining each eyepiece with a critical eye:

* Compared to the 8mm (photo #5), the white lettering of the 16mm (photo #1) appears a bit dingy (i.e., off-white). It should be possible to clean the engraved area on the 16mm, but I have not tried.

* On the chrome barrel of the 16mm, there is one row of small marks from a retaining thumbscrew (at 12-o'clock in photo #2). Around the other side, where the barrel meets the knurled top, there is a 1/8-inch long scratch in the chrome (right of center in photo #3). On the bottom of the barrel, there is a 1/8-inch long scrape along the rounded outer bottom edge (at 6-o'clock in photo #4).

* On the top of the 8mm (photo #5, where the central raised plateau meets the downward-sloping annulus, there is a 1/16-inch scrape (look inward from the letter K in Konig). Outward from the letter m in multi-coated, there is a 1/8-inch scrape where the outermost flat surface meets the rounded edge leading down to the knurled side. On the flat bottom edge of the barrel, there is a nick (at 6-o'clock in photo #6) extending less than 1/16-inch in from the outer circumference, but it's deep enough to catch one's fingernail, and the metal immediately adjacent to the nick feels raised by several of thousandths of an inch.

Optically, looking through each eyepieces at a white ceiling, the outer edge of the FOV is in focus, and there appears to be no visible evidence of debris or dust (neither in-focus nor out-of-focus).

I am asking $80 each obo for each eyepiece or $150 obo for the pair, plus shipping by the buyer's preferred carrier. I will cover the PayPal fee.

UPDATE: The 8mm Konig is SOLD, and the 16mm Konig is spoken for (just awaiting confirmation that payment has been sent). Thanks for looking.
