Airy Disks Separated

Airy Disks Separated

The Rayleigh criterion 5.45/D or 138/Dmm gives a calculation for the separation of two Airy disks. The Dawes limit 4.56/D or 116/Dmm would have these disks overlapped. This for moderately bright stars about mag 5-6. Highly magnified diffraction and Airy disk images generated by Abberator, a freeware software written by Cor Berrevoets, Ritthem, The Netherlands, http://aberrator.ast....net/index.html
