A cosmic vista spanning 30 light years, NGC 1999 is an array of nebulae and energetic young stars producing jets and outflows which push through the surrounding dust and gas at speeds of hundreds of kilometers per second to create luminous shockwaves known as Herbig-Haro (HH) objects.
