The two off-the-shelf eBay items assembled (left) compared to my DIY version from 40-yrs ago (right), which has a helicoid slot in the inner bronze tube for the eyepiece, such that rotating the tube with the eyepiece changes focus. The eBay version has a compression ring and three thumbscrews to hold the eyepiece once focus is set in push-pull fashion.
