oooh, that last one: must have not used a mask somewhere along the L-a-b manipulation line--the background was yuck, and the stars lost their colour

so: BackgroundNeutralization, mild saturation and contrast adjustments, increased saturation of the RGB-added stars (I really like Eyal's technique for that!)
