This was from only about 1% of the total 6 minutes worth of raw .AVI video frames - because that was all that was marginally usable because of "average seeing conditions" which is considered poor for trying to do planetary Imaging especially if it's a smaller planet. It's an "automatically cherry picked" sequence of frames (using PIPP which is the acronym for Planetary Imaging PreProcessor) of the best frames from a raw video that PIPP can automatically convert into a .GIF animation. Also the mount does have significant periodic motion error that causes an additional Jitter or micro vibration but most of what we are seeing here is atmospheric scintillation or turbulence.



    The animation of the stack seems to show the small tracking error, but not any rotation (of the camera on earth). 

    In our local club meeting last night a member showed an animation of the moon, and Said he was manually rotating and centering images with GIMP.

    How do you preprocessing before stacking?

    This actually is not an animation from a stack. It's a Cherry Picked extracted sequence of frames (using PIPP which is the acronym for Planetary Imaging PreProcessor) of the best frames from a raw video that it can automatically convert into a .GIF animation. It was acquired from an.AVI video about 6 minutes long using an EQ mount that was polar aligned well (so any rotation we see is from the orbital motion of Mars) but the mount does have significant periodic motion error that causes an additional Jitter or micro vibration, but most of the distortion we see here is because of average seeing conditions which is considered poor for trying to do planetary Imaging especially if it's a smaller planet.
