Here is my image of M16, the Eagle nebula. It is a diffuse emission nebula found in the constellation Serpens Cauda (the tail of the serpent) in the Sagittarius Arm of the Milky Way. It is thought to be about 5700 light-years away. The Eagle is the dark silhouette in the center of the image resembling a bird in flight. It is a region of star formation containing gases and dust. The nebula was made famous with the Hubble space telescope. The central pillars of the Eagle were named the “Pillars of Creation”.
