Comet Hyakutake, 1996/3/23

Comet Hyakutake, 1996/3/23

This tripod-mounted photograph of Comet Hyakutake was taken with a Pentax K1000 SLR camera and a Pentax 50mm lens from the grounds of the Astronomical Society of Harrisburg's Naylor Observatory two night before the comet's closest approach to the Earth.

Thanks for posting this. I remember in 1996 I was working as a guard at a train yard and I looked up and saw this comet. I became interested in astronomy at that point and eventually in 1999 I bought my first large telescope. This photo took me back. Just beautiful! Greg
My husband took me out to the country that evening in March of 1996 and proposed to me under the skies of Comet Hyakutake. How better to remember that night for two great reasons.
    Very Nice!
