Orion Nebula from D5600 and C8 (at prime) on makeshift wooden wedge.. stacked 30 second exposures.

Still hunting for a vintage wedge and tripod for my 1984 Celestron C8 but in the mean time I built a fixed wooden wedge for my latitude and mounted it to a work stand that I had in the garage. My first attemt at the Orion Nebula. this is 15-20 frames at 30 second each from a Nikon d5600 at prime on the C8 while the vintage tracking motor was running on the makeshift wedge at a ROUGH polar alignment (at best). Not a "great" photo, but I'm happy with the results for my first attempt.

Message for all the newbies.. take what you've got, get out there and make something happen.... you might be surprised what you come away with!
