Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC)

One of our closest galactic neighbours, the Small Magellanic (SMC) cloud is a satellite galaxy of the Milky Way located approximately 200,000 light years from Earth.

Cropped down slightly from the original 4 panel mosaic that included SMC & 75tuc globular cluster- from a total of 96 x 5 min subs. Imaged over 2 nights from about 35 degrees to 50 degrees in sky. Bortle 6 with L-extreme filter and AZGTi, 360mm f/6 and ASI533MC.

Planned in telescopius, stitched together using MS-ICE. Processed in Gimp.

Here is a close-up view of the bottom section processed a bit more to show NGC 346, 371 & 395 and N80.
