It has been a month of rain, clouds and terrible seeing conditions. This morning the upper-atmosphere winds were strong at 142 km/h (9,000 m) and my expectations were low when I headed out to the observatory. Surprisingly, Mars appeared bright and relatively stable visually. I captured forty-one 2-minute exposures, but the seeing deteriorated about a third of the way through. Ultimately, I used 12 frames spanning 41 minutes for the final image. Equipment: ASA 500mm f/15.6 OTA paired with a Sony IMX678 sensor.
