moon going across m45
Dwarf3 telescope
I took 2 pictures of the moon just before it started to transient M45 (the Pleiades).
One was exposed properly for the moon (and the stars did not show up).
The other was exposed for the stars and the moon was completely blown out.
I then post-processed the blown-out moon image to remove the moon leaving just the stars.
I had also taken another image 2 hours later when the moon was right in front of the Peiades.
I used the 2-hour-later image as a guide to where the moon ended up.
Then I loaded the stars-only image and my first properly exposed moon image as 2 different layers in Affinity Photo.
I then made a copy of the moon layer and moved it to the location of where my final image was.
I then made a few more copies of my moon layer and positioned them at various points between these two end-points.
I turned each moon layer on one at a time and saved off that image.
then I loaded that collection of images into a GIF-creator to produce what you see here.
