Jupiter, 25 Feb 2025

Jupiter, 25 Feb 2025

Finally got a cool, calm night and the seeing was pretty good. Jupiter was still low at around 28 degrees elevation, but I was able to capture 7 videos, then stacked and dereotated them to give this image with Ganymede and Callisto along for the ride.

Captured using a Celestron Evolution C9.25" SCT, ZWO ADC, Televue 2.5x Powermate, ASI224MC

This is an amazing image! I’m still learning how to shoot planets. I shot Jupiter last night but it looks nothing like your image. What software do you use to stack multiple videos and derotate? I only know how to use the ASIAir studio right now and learning Siril . My scope is good, Questar 7, and the camera I have is ASI533MC. I’ll post my picture, even though it’s not great. Any suggestions you have are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Thanks, if you are interested in imaging the planets, then the FAQ in the Planetary imaging forum is something you should read through (more than once :)). With your Questar you should be OK starting with the 533 without a barlow, but you'll need an IR-cut filter. Post your images in the forum to get good feedback and read the FAQ here.
