Building a telescope cart for EAA. This is customized for a Losmandy G811 on the heavy duty tripod.
This is being constructed from 6 10" wheels on 5/8" hubs and constructing a 4x4 frame to mount everything. 1/2" Screws will be used to elevate the mount off the wheels for observation.
I like hand tool woodworking (easy in the basement at night) - just not the initial wood prep. For this I use a standard planer to get everything straight and even. The rest is done by hand. It avoids needing air filtering in the house and is simple a quiet.
This image is the initial back H-Frame. The Back legs of the Losmandy tripod will be mounted on the main beam that is about 10" longer than the spread of the legs. This provides better stability over rough ground and makes it easy to retrofit the cart elevation screws for observation. The wheel base is almost 4 feet from wheel to wheel. The middle notch is for the front leg and wheel assembly to be bolted on. The original plan was to glue this in place ... like the other parts of the assembly. If this was glued together ... it would be a problem transporting this mount by anything smaller than a Van or Truck. This will be weaker than a glued joint, but will be reinforced with a plywood top plate for mounting a Jackery and electronics on top.
