TRIPOD MOD FOR EQ ALIGNMENT

This is my modification to my Celestron 102mm SLT NEXSTAR ALT AZ MOUNT. I elongated 2 tripod legs and put a crossmember of angle iron between them. I added a long bolt to put weights on so the scope end woudn't tip over. The 3rd leg is shortened all the way and a length of angle iron extends the short leg away from the center for center of balance and to set up a 38 degree angle on the telescope connector cup. Adding the STARSENSE alignment accessory allows me to align the scope without leveling it. I took onee test picture at 2 minutes exposure of the Orion Nebula. The nebula whited out but the stars were extremely close to start position. That was with just a guess alignment of the tripod. I need more adjustment as this first attempt gave me 35 degrees and I need 38 degrees. I call this a success story. AE4GM2003 BROCK
