Saturn image with odd error in rings
Best 20% of ~1800 frames, stacked and processed with AS!2 and Registax6
Taken with Galaxy S6 camera through Celestron EdgeHD8" @ F10
Projected focus through ES82 6.7mm
It's an illusion caused by the shadow of the planet hitting the rings straight-on when Saturn is at or near opposition. There was a large much higher resolution image of Saturn posted earlier today that clearly shows the effect in good detail. Cassini's Division blends into the shadow and the ball of the planet in such a was as to nearly make a straight flat line. This is much more apparent with smaller apertures at smaller image scales.
